Frozen North

"Frozen North" is a 9"x12" original acrylic riverscape on canvas panel, created as a tribute to winter's quieter side. I pictured a cold morning along a northern river, where fresh snow softens every edge and the air feels crisp enough to almost hear.
In the foreground, snowy banks slope gently toward the water, broken by rocks and patches of ice. The river threads its way through the scene, dark but not harsh, guiding your eye back toward distant trees and a muted sky. I used cool blues and soft grays, balanced with hints of warmer tones, so the landscape feels wintry without becoming harsh or uninviting.
Because of its smaller size, "Frozen North" tucks easily into intimate spaces-a home office, above a bedside table, or on a shelf alongside books and keepsakes. It works especially well if you like rotating artwork with the seasons or if you simply enjoy winter scenery all year long.
The textured brushwork in the snow and subtle shifts of color in the water are meant to reward close viewing, inviting you to step nearer and linger for a moment. If you've ever stood by a river when everything is still and covered in white, this painting offers a quiet reminder of that calm each time you walk past it.
